Living in Dubai, I got attached to the smell of Oud or Agarwood. The strong smell and long lasting qualities of Agarwood makes it a favorite among locals.
Agarwood is mostly burned as incense during festivities, but a lot of people still prefer using it as a perfume (compact or oil). I never thought that I could wear Oud until I came across Jo Malone’s Velvet Rose & Oud Cologne. And I love it!
This Cologne although long lasting, is not too strong and the Damascus rose blends in so beautifully that I don’t end up smelling generic. Agarwood tend to be mixed with leather and most of the time the smell tend be more masculine than feminine and more winter than summer. I wore this perfume all Ramadan, and despite high temperatures in Dubai, I can still wear this scent comfortably, feel summery and flaunt some typical Middle Eastern notes.
